If you’ve read our origin story, you know For The Pups was born from our love for our pups. What started as a personal love letter to our babies—Deacon, Chloe, and Sebastián—has grown into something bigger. The Heart Behind It – Why We Started For The Pups
Our lives revolve around our pups. Gina’s whole world changed when she brought home her first baby, Deacon, who is now hers and Jorge’s together. Even more so when she adopted Chloe (and Jorge’s, too), and then they brought home Sebastián years later. Being PupParents is part of our purpose, and one of our greatest joys.
Through our businesses, Dolce Terra and Dueñas Realty Group, we have a mission to give back. Recently, that has grown to include volunteering and advocating for adoptable dogs.
We want to live intentionally for our pups, and other pups, too.
For The Pups started becoming more than a feeling and a loving phrase, it started becoming a movement. Even if the movement is micro, starting with our family of five.
What We’re Building (Together) – For The Pups
We’re creating more than a space to share about life with our pups, PupParenting, and dog lifestyle. For The Pups is a love-led space at the intersection of pup parent life, dog lifestyle, and advocacy.
We want to be authentic and create a space that talks more deeply, not just conversations about more things.
In this space, we believe we can contribute to more:
- dog lifestyle content that feels honest, not as curated
- guidance on how to actually live your rescue and dog values, beyond adoption
- localized, heartfelt recommendations true to the Austin dog community
- conversations about the emotional side of pup parenting, what it heals, what it breaks open
So that’s what we’re creating and we’ll share:
- stories from our everyday life with three pups, the real reals
- practical tips on from our experience and efforts to live intentionally with our pups
- local gems and small businesses we love
- pup favorites, recipes, resources we have found helpful, and more
Like all things in life, it’s not about perfection, but purpose, effort, and heart.
What’s Coming – Our Vision For The Pups
Our vision for For The Pups is to have:
- A curated shop that grows over time, featuring pupCentric goods; 10% of all sales are donated to support dog causes
- Advocate for adoptable dogs and highlight shelter and rescue pups that deserve your love and attention
- Blog posts that dig deeper into emotional enrichment, intentional and realistic PupParenting, and hyperlocal Austin adventures (and beyond)
- Events and community connections that blend dogs, giving back, and community
- Our journey with For The Pups, and how we’re working to make rescue support sustainable and community-led, encouraging doing more good in ways that align with your lifestyle and ability
Our decisions are guided by love and a bigger “why,” out of a love for our own babies, to help more pups, and to contribute to the PupParent and dog community. This is why we started For The Pups and what we are building together.
